In the same way people building their wealth view financial planners, so is the way that individuals preparing to retire view Transitional Planning Specialists.  It is important to distinguish between the two.

In our senior market practice it has been our experience to see many elder clients still chasing high rate of returns on their investments without any realization of the risks to which they were exposing their portfolios.  That risk was recently realized when the market adjustments clearly introduced them to the pitfalls of the market for the senior investor.

This is where the services and skills of a Transitional Planner come into play.  In Transitional Financial Planning, one exposes himself to the market hopefully realizing the risks and pitfalls for the long-term investment objective.

In Transitional Planning, we deal with seniors who are either pre-retirement or have actually retired and their goals and objectives are very different from when they were still working.  The goals and objectives of a Transitional Client are more geared toward safety and risk elimination, peace of mind, developing income options and tax savings strategies, avoiding probate, and reducing or eliminating the potential for loss to a nursing home.
